托福词汇之“创客空间makerspace”
A makerspace (also referred to as a hacklab, hackerspace or hackspace) is a community-operated workspace where people with common interests, often in computers, machining, technology, science, digital art or electronic art, can meet, socialize and collaborate.
创客空间指的是社区化运营的工作空间，在这里，有共同兴趣的人们(通常是对电脑、机械、技术、科学、数字艺术活电子技术)可以聚会，社交，展开合作。
The workshop offers tools, materials, and expertise for people to work on do-it-yourself projects.
这种工作室为人们提供工具、材料、专业知识，供人们自己动手施展创意。
Libraries have also begun offering “makerspaces” — shared workspaces that provide technological tools and are designed to facilitate collaborative work.
图书馆也开始提供“创客空间”，这种共享的工作空间为大家提供技术工具，旨在促进协同工作。
Makerspaces, hackerspaces, and fab labs are popping up left and right both in and out of New York. They’re a part of the growing maker movement, which encourages people to invent and create.
创客空间也称为hackerspaces或fab labs，在全球不断涌现。它是蓬勃发展的创客运动的一部分，鼓励人们创新。
“创客”(maker)是指出于兴趣与爱好，努力把各种创意转变为现实的人。在互联网的背景下，创客又有了新的定义，他们可以利用开源硬件和互联网，把更多的创意转变为产品。
另外，来自资本市场的热钱(hot money)涌动，更是让创客经济一时热得烫手。在很多城市，都成了创客空间，为创客的创业和创新提供便利，这也是为经济发展增添新动力(new driving force)。
